How Vigil differs.

If you're looking at Hallow, Laudate, iBreviary, Magnificat, or Amen — here's what Vigil Faith does differently.

True 7-language coverage

Not just English and Spanish. Full Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, French — plus a separately recorded Cantonese audio variant. Most Catholic apps are English-first.

Free forever, no paywall

The Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Litany of the Saints, Daily Readings, Saint of the Day, Prayer Intentions, parish community, and Mass Streak — all free in the ad-supported tier. Vigil Pro only removes ads.

End-to-end encrypted intentions

Private prayer intentions are encrypted on your device with AES-GCM. The key lives in your iCloud Keychain or Android Keystore. We can't read them. Most prayer-intention features store text in plaintext on the server.

Global community, auto-translated

Share a public intention in English; a Catholic in Seoul prays for you in Korean; a mother in São Paulo prays for you in Portuguese. No manual translation needed.

Liturgy + gentle play

Catholic crossword puzzles built from each day's Gospel. A saint-matching memory game during the Litany of the Saints. Reverence with a small dose of catechetical play — never on the prayer itself.

Mass Streak, not Mass policing

Check in at any nearby Catholic church and watch your streak grow Sunday after Sunday. A personal devotional aid — not a sacramental record, not an obligation enforcer.

Questions Catholics ask us.

Is Vigil Faith free?
Yes. Vigil Faith is free to download and use on iOS and Android. All core spiritual features — the Catholic Bible, Holy Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Litany of the Saints, Veni Creator Spiritus, Saint of the Day, Daily Readings, Prayer Intentions, parish community, and Mass check-in — are free. The free tier is supported by ads. Vigil Pro is an optional subscription that removes ads at US$5.99/month or US$49.99/year, with Apple and Google Family Sharing.
What languages does Vigil Faith support?
Seven written languages — English, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, and French — plus a separately recorded Cantonese audio variant for the Rosary and other narrations.
Are private prayer intentions actually private?
Yes. Private prayer intentions are encrypted on your device using AES-GCM with a key stored only in your iCloud Keychain or Android Keystore. The encrypted ciphertext is what we store on our servers; Vigil Faith staff, database administrators, and even our backups cannot read your private intentions. They are also never sent to any AI provider for translation or moderation.
Does Vigil Faith require an account?
You can read the Bible, pray the Rosary, listen to audio prayers, and explore Saints of the Day without an account. An account is only required for community features (parish groups, posting, public prayer intentions) and for syncing your Mass attendance streak across devices.
What is Mass Streak?
Mass Streak is a personal devotional tracker. When you check in at a nearby Catholic church on Sunday (or at a Saturday vigil Mass), your streak grows. Streak counters are a personal aid only — they are not a sacramental record and do not substitute the canonical obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.
Are the audio prayers truly synced with the text?
Yes. The Holy Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Litany of the Saints, Veni Creator Spiritus, and Gospel of the Lord prayers all feature word-by-word lyric highlighting that syncs precisely to the audio narration.
Is Vigil Faith approved by the Catholic Church?
Vigil Faith is an independent app made by Catholics for Catholics. It uses publicly available Catholic Bible translations and prayers rooted in Church tradition, but it is not a substitute for formal Church teaching, the sacraments, or pastoral guidance.
